Stanmer Park in Brighton is a smashing place for a kite festival. A gentle breeze up the hill, and nothing to disturb the peace.

We arrived mid day Friday, and stayed all weekend.

Waiting for, and making, brekkie

We took along the badge making gear to raise money for the scouts, but there were so many other attractions there, we only ran the stall on the first day.

Luke Warm soon became expert at cutting out circles of paper.

Stevey found a floppy thing which he soon made go up

We'd been having fun, but there was a nagging suspicion we'd been missing something this weekend.......

..... oh yes - kites !!!!!

So "Yours Truly" flew a new kite

The latest "Bat-Kite"

It was a bargain.

The week before coming to Brighton we'd all clubbed together to buy a parachute. Imagine our surprise when we found that all we got was the parachute.

So thanks to the very generous donation of twenty quid's worth of lines, a carabena and a handle, we amused the nice people who were mad enough to have camped near us.

Having spent an hour measuring out 23 identical lengths of line, and then another hour untangling the 23 identical lengths of line, the wind dropped to nothing. So, not wanting to disappoint the crowds, "Yours Truly" charged down the hill to show how it worked. Thanks to all who cheered and clapped. Next time, please throw money.

It was getting dark, and "Yours Truly" was just a little bit breathless, so we put the toy back in the bag, and got it out the next day when there was a bit of wind.

The pull is manageable, but nowhere near that of a new Blade or so I'm told.

"El Presidente" and "Yours Truly" squabbling over whether or not a Parachute is a one stringed kite.

It was at this point that we had to remind someone that he didn't really like kite flying. Shortly after this, a gust of wind had Bernie flying.
