Lark in the Park

Eastbourne - 25 June 2005

Not the windiest of days, but a gecko eventually went skywards, whilst, in a novel move for a kiting event, some of us went shopping for vacuum cleaners.
Following quite a serious personal shock (have you seen the price of vacuum cleaners these days?) Our WebMaster needed a bit of a lie down.

-so THAT'S where all the England flags went ! -

We couldn't let him sleep for long - as some of the heftier ones of us were suffering from bad backs, the Brighton Kite Fliers' Ladies Land Rover Pulling Team was a bit short handed.

Land Rover Pulling is an obscure sport in which teams of six people attempt to pull a land rover over a distance of twenty metres in the shortest time. Having defeated teams from St. John's ambulance, the police, fire brigade, the hoop-la stall and the local drunks, we found ourselves in joint first position with the fete's security team.

A "pull-off" was called to find the winner, which again resulted in a tie.

After several "pull-offs", we won with a time of seven seconds.

I'm sure the Brighton Kite Fliers' Ladies Land Rover Pulling Team could have won a lot faster had we been given support and encouragement, but the Official Supporters Club were too busy on the model railway to get involved.
Whilst "Colin Three-Puddings" was distracted, we used his Warrior for a party.
Mind you, that ice-cream is good stuff - no amount of mucking about in the back of a truck can compete with shoving ice-cream down your neck. And, it had to be said, a LOT of ice-cream was shoved down necks that afternoon.

So much so, that a walk around Beachy Head was called for.

Here the intrepid stride purposely forward

Here, the children of the intrepid wait patiently in the pub's beer garden.
