Dymchurch Beach

Donations collected to raise money for BBC Children in Need

The theory was to fly your kites in the dark - attach a torch, night light, anything you like as long as it lights up the sky.
Easier said than done when there's absolutely no wind whatsoever. Still, the total lack of wind didn't deter the twenty brave souls who'd travelled to Dymchurch from as far away as Tunbridge Wells, Folkestone, Ashford, Canterbury & Orpington.

As the wind had failed we wandered round the beach clad in "glow sticks". During the evening a total of four kites got airbourne, but none for more than a minute at most, and that was only through vigourous "Charlie Brown-ing"

Team ELF were joined by friends from Kent Kite Fliers for the night, but we were all outdone in lighting up the sky by none other than the Almighty - God Himself !!

Where we were flying had a wonderfully clear sky, but a few miles out to sea was a wonderful storm, and nothing we could do would rival the wonderful lightning flashes that really did light up the sky.
